| Dorothy Hamill, born in Chicago and raised in Greenwich, won Olympic gold and the National and World Championships in figure skating in 1976. She was a three time Nationals champion, five-time winner of the World Professional Skating Championships, and received international acclaim for her athletic move – the Hamill camel.
An Ice Capades headliner, 1977-1984, Dorothy purchased the financially strapped touring company in 1993 and was a featured skater, winning an Emmy for her role in Romeo and Juliet On Ice. She was inducted into the U.S. Olympic and the World Figure Skating Halls of Fame. Dorothy is active in many charities, including the International Special Olympics and a March of Dimes program to teach blind children to skate. | |||||||||
