The criteria for selection are:
- Nominees must be natives and/or Connecticut residents.
- First woman, historic or living, to achieve recognition in the field of endeavor or a lifetime of achievement in that field.
- A significant statewide contribution to: arts, athletics, business, government, philanthropy, humanities, science, education, etc.

Once a completed nomination form is received, it will be forwarded to the Hall of Fame’s Consulting Scholars. The scholars review all nominations twice a year and create an annual slate of proposed inductions for approval by the Board of Trustees. Qualified candidates may or may not be inducted in the year in which they were nominated. All materials sent with the nomination become property of the CWHF.
