Connecticut Women's Hall of Fame Receives CT Cultural Fund Operating Support Grant from CT Humanities

New Haven, CT (January 20, 2022) — Connecticut Humanities, the statewide, nonprofit affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH), has awarded the Connecticut Women’s Hall of Fame (CWHF) a $31,600 CT Cultural Fund Operating Support Grant (CTCFOSG).

The support that CWHF receives from the Cultural Fund Operating Support Grant will enable us to hire an employee that will help expand CWHF educational programs we offer throughout the state. The CWHF serves school children and adults, educating them about the accomplishments and contributions that women have made in Connecticut, in our country, and around the world, past and present.

“This is an extraordinary opportunity for us to expand our programs as we move forward post-Covid,” said Desiree Wolfe, Board of Trustee Chair of CWHF. The support that we have received from the Connecticut Humanities exceeds our expectations on what we thought we could accomplish after the past two, very challenging years.”

The Connecticut Women’s Hall of Fame was one of 624 organizations in Connecticut that was awarded CT Cultural Fund support totaling $16M from CT Humanities. The CTCFOSG are part of $30.7M of support allocated to arts, humanities, and cultural nonprofits through CTH over the next two years by the CT General Assembly and approved by Governor Ned Lamont. The CTCFOSG will assist organizations as they recover from the pandemic and maintain and grow their ability to serve their community and the public.

This grant was administered by CT Humanities (CTH), with funding provided by the Connecticut State Department of Economic and Community Development/Connecticut Office of the Arts (COA) from the Connecticut State Legislature.

About Connecticut Women’s Hall of Fame

The Connecticut Women’s Hall of Fame honors the achievements of women by celebrating their legacies and telling their powerful stories, inspiring women and girls to realize their own limitless potential.

As the state’s premier resource for Connecticut women’s history, we accomplish our mission through education and community outreach programs for both students and adults. Founded in 1994 in Hartford, the CWHF is a provider of innovative educational programs and tools that inspire women and girls to believe in their unlimited potential. The CWHF’s 136 Inductees are role models for women of all ages, and their stories are proof of all that women can accomplish. Leveraging those powerful stories, the CWHF makes history relevant through programs for educators, multi-media presentations, and traveling exhibits. CWHF’s work fosters the courage and confidence women need to overcome barriers and advocate on their own behalf. Each year through the CWHF’s initiatives, 60,000 women and girls see what possible and become empowered to take an active role in shaping their future. The CWHF website, www.cwhf.org , is a “virtual Hall” where visitors can explore all the CWHF has to offer.
