Windham Textile & History Museum

While the wives of mill owners may have expected their lives to be remembered, the women who labored in Willimantic’s textile mills during the Industrial era likely never imagined that their homes and workplaces would one day be preserved and re-created for future generations.

At the Windham Textile & History Museum, visitors can step into this past and experience the striking contrasts between a mill worker’s modest home and a mill owner’s grand residence. The museum also features a detailed recreation of a 19th-century textile mill, offering an immersive look at the daily realities of industrial life.

In addition to its permanent displays, the museum hosts rotating exhibits throughout the year, ensuring there is always something new to discover.

The museum is open Friday through Sunday, 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and is closed in January and on major holidays.
